Alpha Gear Drives, Inc.’s LPK+ Gearhead Delivers High Performance and Affordability

 

With the LPK+, Alpha Gear Drives, Inc. expands its offering of right-angle gearheads. The LPK+ follows the success of the LP+ low-backlash planetary gearhead. The LPK+ is an ideal option when cost-effectiveness is a priority, and for a variety of servo applications that require low to medium precision.

 

The sleek LPK+ comes in five sizes, with acceleration torques up to 250 Nm, torsional backlash limited to < 10 arcminutes, and a peak speed of 6,000 rpm. It also comes with 10 reduction ratios from i = 3 to i = 100. The Alpha rack-and-pinion system and shaft couplings are optional.

 

  • Cartesian robots with a timing belt drive (in palletizers and loading/unloading robots, for example). The LPK+’s planetary stage on the output side ensure high rigidity, and the gearhead can withstand high timing belt pretension and requires minimal installation space.

  • Medium-precision flatbed machines, on XY axes with rack-and-pinion drives. The LPK+ combines reliable, efficient precision with high power density, thereby reducing the weight of traversing axes.

  • Packing machines with high-speed axes for feeding, cutting, slotting, erecting, sealing, etc. The LPK+’s high efficiency accounts for the high speed, and its right-angle stage accounts for high productivity. Consistently high-end product quality comes from constant torsional backlash and almost zero wear.
