Electric Motors: Energy Efficient / Environmentally Friendly

The world of electric motors is changing at an unprecedented rate and there is a greater emphasis on energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. As a result of "EISA" (Energy Independence and Security Act), electric motors in the U.S. will be subject to higher efficiency standards by December, 2010. In preparation for EISA, McNaughton-McKay encourages you to evaluate electric motors in your facilities, products and supply chains to determine how you may be individually impacted. The U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee has created a motor rebate program for premium efficiency motors, known as a "crush for credit".
Rebates

Rebates:

  • $25 per horsepower for the purchase of NEMA Premium motors

  • $5 per horsepower for the disposal of the old inefficient motor

In conjunction with these national rebates, local utilities my be offering additional monies for the purchase and installation of energy efficient motors. Baldor Motors' Super E-Series and Marathon Electrics' XRI Family are examples of energy efficient motors that McNaughton-McKay represents.
