BUSINESS SITUATION
The company wanted better visibility into their energy consumption and was looking for a cost effective sub-metering solution that would provide the ability to generate usage reports for different areas of the facility.
Technical SITUATION
The customer received monthly utility bills, but had no way to understand how their total consumption was actually distributed to various parts of their manufacturing process.
SOLUTION
McNaughton-McKay reviewed the application and possible solutions and proposed using Leviton's VerifEye System. The solution consisted of sub-metering hardware, along with hardwired and wireless data transmitters that send the energy data to the Energy Management Hub. The Hub then aggregates the data and transmits it to the web so that reports can be generated.
BENEFITS
The system was much simpler and lower cost than comparable products from other manufacturers. An electrical contractor was able to install the system over a period of several weeks. The customer is now able to pull data out of the energy management hub and generate their own reports on a weekly and monthly basis. These reports allow the facility maintenance teams to understand their plant wide energy requirements and allow them to study the effects of energy efficiency upgrades by comparing reports before and after changes have been implemented.
