The Power of Project Management

9/19/2025

In her first Expert Series article, McNaughton-McKay’s Madison Maes explains how project management services (like the Stage & Store program) benefit construction customers seeking power solutions.

Madison Maes is a Power Specialist on McNaughton-McKay’s Construction team. In this role, she works closely with contractors, applying product knowledge to identify the best solutions based on engineering drawings and project requirements. She began her career with McNaughton-McKay in 2024 and has been managing and quoting construction projects since the beginning of this year.

McNaughton-McKay’s power department is fully integrated into our project management service. Our contribution is not just about selling material; it’s about helping our customers run their jobs smoothly from start to finish. We work on everything from quick one-off orders to massive multi-phase construction projects that can last months or years. Having a strong project management process is key to successfully carrying out these projects of varying complexity. This is where the value of our Stage & Store system really comes in.

The Stage & Store program is used for large, multi-phase orders. It allows us to order material early and hold it until customers are ready to receive it on the job site. Stage & Store helps us ensure that our lead times are true and that the products arrive right when the customer needs them. With this system, we can track every piece of equipment and material for a job, from the moment it’s ordered to the day it’s delivered. For large-scale projects, with many moving parts, that’s a lifesaver. We can schedule deliveries to match installation dates, and we are always ready to handle unexpected changes to project timelines.

I’ve seen firsthand how much easier it makes things for contractors when they know we’re on top of their material schedule. They can focus on building while we make sure everything shows up exactly when and where it’s needed. Even with smaller projects, we can use our project management resources to organize schedules and make sure material is delivered on time, ensuring fewer delays, fewer headaches and a lot less chaos.

Knowing that we’re more than just a supplier is one of the reasons I enjoy my job. The McNaughton-McKay power department partners with customers to make sure the job gets done right, no matter the size. Whether it’s a single panel or a multi-million-dollar build, we bring the same energy and attention to detail that keeps things moving.
